Entrepreneurship 101 for young people from the NEET group

Apr 29, 2022

Each of us sometimes needs extra support to take the first steps in meeting our goals. Aware of the problems that young people face when starting and choosing a career, the Association for the Affirmation of Culture is launching a new project called – Entrepreneurship 101 for young people from the NEET group .

As proud members of the Youth Hub – Western Balkans and Turkey Group, with the financial support of the European Union and the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, we will implement the Entrepreneurship 101 project for young people from the NEET Group in the coming months.

The goal of the project is to empower young people from the NEET group to take the first steps in their careers and start their own businesses, as well as to educate and inform them about the basics of entrepreneurship. Through two-day workshops, but also with mentoring support, we will work directly with young people from Sabac, Leskovac, Pirot and Cacak , and then launch a learning platform that will be publicly available, related to the topics of entrepreneurship and youth employability.

Who and why are NEET young?

Who are the NEET young? The NEET population consists of young people who are unemployed, not in the process of education or training. In other words, these are young people aged 17 to 30 who are not in the educational process, nor do they do work every day (that is, they occasionally work part-time jobs and are looking for permanent employment). The mentioned group of young people is mainly characterized by a lack of appropriate skills, low level of motivation and self-confidence, but also low interest in social events.

Why NEET young? Unemployment is one of the most common problems among young people. The fact that according to the latest research, the unemployment rate among young people is 47.05% speaks in favor of the fact. In addition to the high unemployment rate, youth inactivity is also at an extremely high level of 52.8%. As an organization that has been dealing with youth activism and youth entrepreneurship for years, we have recognized this problem. Thanks to many years of experience, but also desire and motivation, we will make our knowledge and practical skills in the field of entrepreneurship accessible and interesting to young people from the NEET population.

Applications for free workshops will be available soon, and until then you can take a look at the work of the Association for the Affirmation of Culture in the fields of youth activism and youth employment.
