In the period from October 2020. until March 2021. The first generation of the Green Economy of Serbia project was successfully implemented in 2006. The Green Economy of Serbia is a project supported by the European Union and the Belgrade Open School with the aim of bringing the Zero Waste concept closer to local governments, the economy and citizens of four selected municipalities in Serbia, and to further align Serbia with Chapter 27 .
In previous months, after informative visits and preparation of the guide “Zero Waste through the Green Economy of Serbia”, expert visits were held where our experts had the opportunity to meet live with representatives of local governments from four selected municipalities – Pirot, Prijepolje, Sremska Mitrovica and Kosjeric. The aim of the visit is to present the problems and information obtained by talking to local businessmen, producers and citizens through information visits as well as obtaining feedback to improve the guide.
In addition to live meetings, round tables were held with representatives of local businessmen, companies and citizens where they had the opportunity to hear the presentation of the guide “Zero Waste through the Green Economy of Serbia” participate in the discussion and give suggestions for improvement. Given the current epidemiological situation, the roundtables were held online via the Zoom platform.
As part of the expert visits, a promotional campaign was conducted where, with the help of educational visuals on social networks as well as educational brochures, they worked on educating citizens about the Zero Waste principle and ways to implement it in everyday life.
As the last activity on the project, a live presentation of the guide “Zero Waste through the Green Economy of Serbia” was held, which presents research obtained through work with 20 companies from four selected municipalities as well as panel discussions with our experts. Representatives of local self-governments, regional chambers of commerce and representatives of 50 companies engaged in food production attended the live presentation. In line with current epidemiological measures, the live presentation was held online via the Facebook live option. You can see a live video on the Facebook page – Lighthouse of Knowledge.
