” Lighthouse of Knowledge ” is a traditional competition of 60 high school students from 15 different cities in Serbia. It is designed so that high school students, with the help of mentors, work as a team to come up with ideas and prepare projects that can improve their local community. Projects are prepared on one of five topics – culture and art, public health, tourism, social responsibility and ecology.
“Lighthouse of Knowledge” is held for the fifth year in a row as a socially responsible event, designed to educate, train and connect young people from all over Serbia. This year, third and fourth year high school students from the following cities can apply – Bajina Basta, Belgrade, Valjevo, Vranje, Vrsac, Zajecar, Leskovac, Nis, Novi Sad, Pirot, Subotica, Uzice, Cacak and Sabac.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia.
Through participation in the Lighthouse of Knowledge, there was an opportunity for joint learning and getting to know high school students from different cities in Serbia. The project begins with a ceremonial opening that will take place at the end of July (29.07-31.07) . Participants will have the opportunity to attend this three-day seminar with accommodation, lectures, workshops and an entertainment program. During the seminar, teams of high school students get to know their mentors and together identify and define projects they want to improve their local communities and prepare for the project.
The seminar is followed by a two-month work on ideas followed by weekly webinars with relevant lecturers who follow the development flow of high school students’ ideas. The final projects are presented at the final event to be held from 07. to 09. October. At the final event, young people have the opportunity to present their idea in front of an expert jury composed of representatives of socially responsible companies, humanitarian foundations, media and organizations that have developed programs to encourage youth activism and entrepreneurship.
Participation in the Lighthouse of Knowledge is very useful, but also fun, and completely free!
