We invite you to 2. August, apply for the traditional competition, which has been organized for the fourth year in a row in order to educate, train and connect young people from all over Serbia. If you have a desire to improve the environment in which you live, a competitive spirit and you need support to put your idea into action, “Lighthouse of Knowledge” is a competition for you!
The competition brings together 60 high school students from 15 cities in Serbia and is designed so that participants, with the professional help of mentors, work in teams to design and prepare projects on one of five topics (ecology, public health, tourism, culture and social responsibility) to improve communities in which they live, but also personal professional development. All that is needed is to notice some good change that they would like to realize in their place, to apply and start.
The cities participating this year are: Belgrade, Valjevo, Vranje, Vrsac, Kragujevac, Krusevac, Leskovac, Nis, Novi Sad, Pancevo, Paracin, Pirot, Prijepolje, Uzice and Sabac.
High school students from different cities of Serbia have the opportunity to learn and get to know each other together at the opening ceremony, when teams are defined by cities, meet mentors and lecturers. During a three-day seminar in Vrsac (September 11-13), which includes accommodation, lectures, workshops and an entertainment program, high school teams identify and define projects through the desire to improve their local communities and prepare for the project.
The seminar is followed by a three-month program of work on projects, consisting of weekly webinars that chronologically follow the development of ideas of high school teams. Progress checks are organized three times during the program, while the teams themselves are connected through a special program of “partner teams” in order to foster a culture of togetherness and assistance. The final projects are presented at the final event of the Knowledge Saints (end of November), where the works are evaluated by an expert jury composed of representatives of successful companies, humanitarian foundations, media and organizations that have developed programs to encourage youth activism and entrepreneurship.
The lighthouse of knowledge connects proactive young people from different parts of Serbia through learning and working to improve the places where they live. By participating in the Lighthouse of Knowledge, young people have the opportunity to learn from eminent experts about the basics of project management and gain insight into how to put the idea they have into action.

Competition open until 2. August (23:59), and the results will be announced no later than 10. August.
The project is being implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the Embassy of the United States of America in Belgrade.
Note: In order for all activities to be carried out in accordance with the epidemiological recommendations of the Crisis Staff for monitoring the epidemic, the Lighthouse of Knowledge will procure all equipment as a measure of protection against infectious diseases including masks, gloves and disinfectants. Also, when choosing a space for activities, care will be taken that there is enough space for the distance between the participants in the case of prescribed measures of social distance and that the premises have the capacity for natural ventilation.
